Lesson Objective

Through exploring the work of Toronto artist Katrina Schaman, and learning about her techniques and processes, students will learn how to make their own mixed media collage landscapes and animals.

Learning Outcomes

Students will:

  • learn the vocabulary of art techniques and practices (collage, mixed media art, landscape)

  • explore elements of design (shape and form, space, line, colour, texture and value)

  • explore principles of design,

  • learn about a local artist their art, Arctic Animals, Winter Landscapes

  • have an opportunity to explore with materials and concepts

  • be encouraged to create art in a comfortable and supportive environment

  • apply critical thinking skills in their analysis of artwork and creation of their own artwork
