Lesson Objective
Learning about the members of the Painters 11 and looking at their art work, students will discuss the role of colour, line and shape in abstract expressionist art. Students will then be encouraged through constructive play based learning to express themselves through making an abstract acrylic painting.
Learning Outcomes
Students will:
learn vocabulary of art techniques and practices (explore elements of design (shape and form, space, line, colour, texture and value)
learn about a local artist and their art
have an opportunity to explore with materials and concepts
learn about proper use of artist tools, supplies and materials
be encouraged to create art in a comfortable, safe and supportive environment
have an opportunity to express themselves as unique thinking and feeling individuals
apply critical thinking skills in their analysis of art work and creation of their own art work
